FREE COMMUNITY for FREELANCERS
I'm Erica, the chronically ill corporate dropout who accidentally found freedom through freelancing. I provide beginner-friendly, step-by-step guidance on how to build freedom and financial stability through freelancing even if you think you have no freelance-friendly skills. A chronically ill corporate overachiever walks into her CEO's office to ask for accommodations, and the CEO says "Have you tried... closing your door?"
(This isn't the setup to a joke. This was my actual life. 😅)
There I was, Director of Everything™ at a healthcare system, collecting titles like they were Pokemon cards. The kind of employee who had a photo wall of my work team in my actual home. (We'll unpack that in therapy at some later point in time.)
See, I had spent a lifetime becoming professional at powering through pain. Built my entire identity around being That Employee™ - you know the one. The reliable one. The get-it-done one. The "sure, I can take on another department" one.
But there I was, dying inside. Literally.
I was sitting at my perfectly organized desk, staring at my screen with tears in my eyes, physically unable to drag myself out of bed before noon most days. My body had declared war, chronic illness had moved in rent-free and was staging a full-scale rebellion. Think less 'quiet quitting' and more 'every cell in my body joined the picket line.'
When I finally asked my employer for help, their solution (in addition to the brainchild of closing my door) was chef's kiss perfection: I could pre-schedule ONE day a week to work from home. Because chronic illness flare-ups DEFINITELY pencil in their shifts two weeks in advance on my schedule.
Oh, and the cherry on top? I worked for a MENTAL HEALTHCARE company.
I've seen firsthand how broken systems and corporate greed can steal the life you were meant to live from you. How it forces brilliant people to choose between their health and their paycheck. Between their sanity and their salary.
So I took what tiny sliver of control I had over an incredibly shitty situation and instead of putting my hand back on the burning stove like a good little corporate soldier, I did something a touch unhinged (TBH, I was in a full-blown mental crisis by this point):
I burned. It. ALL. Down. 🔥
Quit on the spot. Went through an existential crisis, mourned my previous identity I had so carefully built and loved, spent approximately 3,762 hours in therapy, but THEN…
Rented out the house. Bought an RV. Redesigned my entire existence because apparently saying 'no thanks' to a six-figure salary without a backup plan is just how I process trauma these days.
But here's the plot twist no one saw coming (especially not me):
All those years of corporate ladder-climbing? They weren't wasted – they were research.
Every broken system I fixed, every department I rebuilt, every process I streamlined... It was all preparation.
Because after years of fighting to be compensated fairly, being overworked and underpaid, giving everything I had to employers who chose profits or personal preferences when I needed them most - I realized something profound:
The ONLY person who will ever treat your health, your finances, your purpose, your life experiences the way they deserve to be treated is YOU.
I started on Upwork with embarrassingly low rates ($15/hour, y'all) and no real plan beyond "I need to pay my bills." My first job paid a whopping $10. Not $10/hour. Just... $10.
But within months, I'd worked my way up to rates that surpassed my old corporate salary. I became a Top 1% Expert-Vetted sales copywriter and eventually built a thriving business as an online business architect, building systems for coaches making six and seven figures.
Here's the thing, though: while I love my high-end clients, watching the economic chaos unfold around me has shifted something in my heart. My best friend's research department had funding frozen. My son and his friends are working full-time but can't afford basic necessities. My social feeds are filled with people just trying to make enough to cover medical bills or this month's rent.
I realized my passion isn't helping the already-successful make even more money. It's helping regular people who feel trapped find their own path to freedom through freelancing—even if it's just enough extra cash to pay the electric bill without stress or take their kids to a movie without rearranging the entire month's budget.
No get-rich-quick schemes. No "six-figure blueprint" that requires going into debt. Just practical, step-by-step guidance that helps you learn as you earn.
This is about building something bigger than a business - it's about creating a fortress of freedom that lets YOU decide:
→ When you work (because some days noon is the new 9am)
→ Where you work (maybe it's an RV, maybe it's your living room)
→ How you work (in ways that honor your energy and wellbeing)
→ Who you work with (because life's too short for energy vampires)
→ What you're worth (which is absolutely more than your employer thinks)
Freedom isn't just an Instagram aesthetic – it's a precisely engineered formula. And I've got the blueprints. So get in here!🏃♀️
